• Telescope: Seats one. Controls allow it to rotate and angle up and down.
• 4 Tomes chained to a desk. 4 dried pots of ink (black, blue, green, red) nearby. Brown tome contains reservation entries in colored ink. Pages in the colored tomes are dated and written in code. Final entries are 62 years old.
• Colored Lenses: On a shelf. 3 each of blue, green, and red. If the night sky is observed through a lens, a different set of stars are visible. After a character has used a lens, using a different colored lens deals 1d6 psychic damage.
Analyzing the secret stars provides strange insights. Once per night, when a PC views the stars through a colored lens, that player gains 5 points of Influence. Whenever a die is rolled, the player may spend Influence on a point by point basis to increase or decrease the result. The results of die rolls can’t be hidden from players with Influence.
Once a character has viewed the secret stars 7 times, they are affected as per the geas spell, with a task from the table below. This geas can only be broken by a 14th-level cleric. The geas is patient, and allows the character time to make plans and grow in strength, but every major action they take should be justified in terms of their new task.
Destroy a major royal line of succession
Totally supplant a the worship of a true god with a false god
Obliterate all traces of a particular 5th or 6th level magic-user spell
Prevent a major city’s population from seeing the night sky for a year and a day
• Lever: Opens and closes the aperture in the ceiling. Currently stuck and must be fixed from the outside (see p.42).
